PROTECTING OUR ENVIRONMENT

Sunshine Environmental Studies

Foresight Wind Energy has undertaken a broad range of studies to ensure that the proposed site is a suitable location for a wind power facility of the type proposed.

Biological studies

  • Biological Review of the Northern Project Area, by SWCA Consultants, Flagstaff AZ, October 2004
  • Biological Evaluation of the Sunshine Wind Park Project, by Western EcoSystems Technologies (WEST) Inc., Cheyenne, WY, October 2004.
  • Baseline avian and biological surveys were conducted by NAU Ecological Monitoring & Assessment Program, U.S. Geological Survey Colorado Plateau Research Station, and Western EcoSystems Technologies, Inc., Avian biological studies were completed Winter 2005. Bat surveys were completed Fall 2006.
Telecommunications

Federal Aviation Administrations
FAA Pacific West Regional office studied the wind farm in April through July 2004 and issued "finding of no hazard" to aviation with appropriate lighting

Analyses carried out by Environme Design and Research (EDR), P.C. of Syracuse, NY, September 2004. (View Simulations)

Archaeological, Historical, Cultural
Class I archeological overview of the project area and surrounding areas carried out by NAU Anthropology Laboratories, October 2004. Follow up class III on-site transect work will also be carried out by NAU prior to project construction to ensure roads and turbine placements do not disturb any historical sites.
